Phnom Penh — FTB in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment & the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to contribut 9 waste separation bins to Secondary School in the campaign of the Blue Skies & Net Zero 2050 in Cambodia. The official handover ceremony took place on the morning of September 11, 2025, at Hun Sen Toul Trea Secondary School, Tbong Khmum Province, presided over by H.E. Chea Sam Ang, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment, Ms. Nathalie Andre, GGGI’s Country Representative in Cambodia, the Association of Banks In Cambodia, and senior representatives from FTB.
The main objective of this campaign is to provide a platform for all stakeholders to support the government in increasing climate action that contributes to reducing climate impacts and raising awareness, as well as to promote awareness and discussion about climate action that contributes to environmental protection, building resilience, and improving air quality.
FTB Bank’s contribution believes that economic development must be sustainable and environmentally friendly. The contribution of providing waste separation bins to schools is an example of the private sector’s concrete involvement in contributing to a cleaner, healthier community and advancing Cambodia’s journey toward a greener future.
In Cambodia, waste management has emerged as a central priority and strategic theme underpinning the implementation of the Blue Skies Campaign. This focus aligns closely with the Ministry of Environment’s broader policy direction, and over the years, the Ministry has launched campaigns, including “Today I do not use plastic bags” “Clean Cambodia! Khmer Can Do It,” and other campaigns.
At the same time, FTB also urges all students to use waste separation bins responsibly, recognizing that environmental work to be successful, everyone must participate, and educational institutions, in particular, play a vital and irreplaceable role in shaping the environmental awareness and mindset of the next generation—especially students, who have a positive attitude toward sustainability.
It is worth noting that the “Blue Skies & Net Zero 2050 Campaign” was initiated by GGGI in 2020 and later became a global campaign. Cambodia is the first GGGI member country in Southeast Asia to celebrate and participate in the implementation of this campaign.
