Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia Signs Principal License Agreement with Mastercard to Advance Digital Payments in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – 23rd April, 2026 – Foreign Trade Bank of Cambodia (FTB), the first commercial bank in Cambodia, today announced the signing of a Principal License Agreement with Mastercard, a global technology company in the payments industry. This collaboration marks a significant step toward strengthening Cambodia’s financial sector by advancing digital banking capabilities and supporting the country’s rapid expansion of payments ecosystem and financial inclusion.

Through this agreement, FTB will be able to issue Mastercard cards and acquire Mastercard merchants by leveraging Mastercard’s global network, delivering secure, seamless, and globally accepted payment solutions for Cambodian cardholders, businesses, and merchants.

As Cambodia continues to grow into a more cashless society, demand for reliable international payments access, contactless capabilities, and secure e-commerce solutions is also on the rise. The collaboration will enable FTB to position itself for these evolving trends while reinforcing its competitiveness in Cambodia’s banking sector, expanding Mastercard acceptance across key industries and supporting businesses that serve both local and international customers.
