Senior Officer, Green & Sustainable Initiative

The Senior Officer will support the coordination and implementation of the Bank’s green finance, sustainability, and environmental and social risk management initiatives, particularly those undertaken with development partners, technical assistance providers, and sector stakeholders.

Main Duties

• Maintain integrated workplans, implementation trackers, and supporting documentation for green initiatives, including milestones, responsibilities, timelines, and evidence of progress.
• Coordinate meetings, workshops, advisory sessions, and follow-up actions with internal teams and external partners to ensure timely delivery of agreed outputs.
• Support the development and implementation of institutional improvements related to sustainability practices, and environmental and social management systems, including policies, procedures, tools, templates, and internal guidance.
• Prepare progress updates, briefing notes, reports, presentations, and supporting documents for management and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and proper version control.
• Support internal coordination across relevant departments to ensure timely follow-up on decisions, action points, and deliverables.
• Assist in organizing capacity-building activities, including trainings and workshops related to green finance and environmental and social management.
• Onboard green and sustainable businesses to utilize bank products and services.
• Support the implementation of the Bank’s Environmental and Social Management System (ESMS), including documentation, process coordination, internal follow-up, and reporting.
• Assist in tracking institutional progress on sustainability, climate finance, and ESMS-related priorities, including risks, issues, lessons learned, and areas requiring management attention.
• Prepare concise management updates and executive-ready materials to support decision-making by senior management and relevant committees.

Experiences

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in environmental management, climate change, sustainability/ESG, economics/finance, development studies or another relevant discipline.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience in one or more of: project/program coordination; ESG/sustainability; environmental and social safeguards; climate finance; development projects; financial sector risk/compliance; or consulting/analyst roles supporting similar topics.
• Evidence sources relevant to the skillset include: ESMS requirements for financial institutions, safeguards (including grievance mechanisms and SEAH), and climate/GHG measurement approaches.
• ​​ Practical understanding of ESMS concepts and workflows (screening, risk categorization, ESDD documentation packs, mitigation tracking, monitoring reporting).
• ​ Basic climate finance literacy (mitigation/adaptation concepts, green finance products, risk/return framing) consistent with program aims to mobilize climate-aligned financing and develop green products.
